Our Instructors

Coordinator and Instructor: Craig Daniels
Craig Daniels is a graduate of Stanford University with BA in Communications with a concentration in Mathematics.  He has also received an ME in Ocean Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Washington. He was trained in facilitating Math Circles by Bob and Ellen Kaplan at their Math Circle Institute at Notre Dame in July, 2009 and returned there through 2014.  He was also trained by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute in 2010 and 2012. In 2010 he was on Portland Public Schools’ K-5 Math Curriculum Adoption Committee. He is currently working on his MS in Mathematics at Portland State University. He is looking forward to sharing his love of math.

Instructor: Iva Stavrov
Iva Stavrov is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Lewis and Clark College, where she has been teaching since 2004. She obtained her PhD in mathematics from University of Oregon in 2003. Her research specialty is in differential geometry and general relativity. In 2012, she was chosen Lewis and Clark Teacher of the Year by the students. Iva comes from former Yugoslavia where she was a regular participant in mathematics competitions; she was a member of the 1993 Yugoslav Mathematics Olympiad Team. She has been involved in Math Circles since 2014.

Instructor: Anjali Singhai Jain
Anjali is a Network Software Engineer at Intel Inc. where she has been working since 2004 designing and writing device drivers mostly for Linux kernel now. She obtained her undergrad in Electronics and Telecommunication from GEC Jabalpur India and her Master’s in Computer Science from Portland State University. Anjali has been actively involved in Math Kangaroo International math competition and helps coach kids for the same. Since her school days, Math has been the subject that she most enjoyed studying and teaching. She is passionate about math puzzles and uses those to get young kids interested in Math. She has been involved with Math Circle since 2014.
